Play a part and be uniquely remarkable. It is through the support of our valued funding partners that we are able to foster an appreciation of the arts, remain accessible to diverse populations, and realize the intrinsic value the arts have to offer to a child’s well-being and development.

Frequently Asked Questions
General
Why does PYT fundraise?
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, donors play a vital role in Phoenix Youth Theatre’s ability to expand the breadth and depth of its programming and build a sustainable future.
Between grants and donations, youth theatres across the valley fundraise between $100,000 to $950,000 annually. PYT has steady growth in mind and a balanced approach to our long term goals. We are currently seeking multiple grants, building relationships with local businesses and establishing community fundraising.
Although Phoenix Youth Theatre isn’t new, becoming a 501(c)3 has opened up many new doors—and theatre curtains! Thank you for being part of our nonprofit beginning.
Do you have a Matching Program?
We believe in finding partners who want to create force-multiplying opportunities for a greater good and fully support Phoenix Youth Theatre. By working directly with our partners who provide matching sponsorship dollars, we are able to encourage donors to double their impact while promoting your brand.
What is the Mad Hatter Tea Party?
Join the party! The Mad Hatter Tea Party, that is. Top donors will receive a VIP invitation to celebrate our nonprofit status with our WOW director, Jacqueline Dunford, while our lead characters from Phoenix Youth Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. provide what is certain to be unforgettable entertainment. Coming February 2021.
Tax Answers
Is my donation tax deductible?
All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Thank you for considering making a gift to PYT. We simply couldn’t do it without you. It’s true! Without the generous support from our friends, PYT could not produce the top-quality performing arts programming you have come to know, expect and love.

How does the Cares Act affect my donation?
This material has been prepared for informational purposes only, and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, tax, legal, or accounting advice. You should consult your own tax, legal, and accounting advisors before engaging in any transaction.
Check the questions below and visit the IRS information page to learn more.
Can my C Corporation donate?
The law now permits C corporations to apply an increased corporate limit of 25% of taxable income for charitable contributions of cash they make during calendar-year 2021. Normally, the maximum allowable deduction is limited to 10% of a corporation’s taxable income.
Whats the difference between an acknowledgment and an ad?
The effect of an acknowledgment is identification of the sponsor rather than the promotion of the sponsor’s products, services, or facilities. Acknowledgments may include sponsor logos and slogans, sponsor locations and telephone numbers, value-neutral descriptions (including displays or visual depictions) of a sponsor’s product-line or services and sponsor brand or trade names, and product service listing.
Ads that include messages containing qualitative or comparative language, price information, or other indications of savings or value, an endorsement, or an inducement to purchase, sell, or use such products or services are considered advertisements, and only the portion of the sponsorship payment that exceeds the fair market value of the substantial return benefit is a qualified sponsorship payment. Please speak with your financial advisor for more information.
Itemizing
I DON'T itemize my tax return. Can I still donate?
The CARES act permits taxpayers to claim a limited deduction on their 2021 federal income tax returns for cash contributions.
These taxpayers, including married individuals filing separate returns, can claim a deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions during 2021. The maximum deduction is $600 for married individuals filing joint returns.
I DO itemize my tax return. Can I still donate?
Taxpayers who itemize can generally claim a deduction for charitable contributions. The deduction is typically limited to 20% to 60% of their adjusted gross income and varies depending on the type of contribution and the type of charity.
The law now allows taxpayers to apply up to 100% of their AGI, for calendar-year 2021.
