Fundraising Specifics

Why does PYT fundraise?

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, donors play a vital role in Phoenix Youth Theatre’s ability to expand the breadth and depth of its programming and build a sustainable future.

Performance arts are a universal expression of human kindness and help young people find their voice in society. The arts enrich our quality of life, and donor support will help Phoenix Youth Theatre maintain the excellence of its youth-focused programs. PYT relies on the generosity of our families, friends and local businesses to support our programming. Your donation will make a BIG difference.

What happens if I don't fundraise at all?

Nada, nothing, zilch. Your child will continue to receive that same amazing experience you have come to expect here at Phoenix Youth Theatre.

Look, we get it. We totally get it. Another fundraiser. Another ask. But, consider this–PYT simply can’t exist without fundraising. We have a team of volunteers working hard behind the scenes writing grants, requesting in-kind gifts, sending out proposals to corporations and requesting donations from our local Phoenix business neighbors. By asking our PYT families to join in the fundraising effort, we are inviting you to be a part of the team.

We’re separated, who gets first access to tickets?

PYT emails will be sent to the email address provided at enrollment by default. This includes notifications to purchase early access tickets. Please email if you need to update your primary email address.

If I have two kids in the show, do I fundraise for both?

You can, but it’s not expected. Multi child families default to one fundraising campaign and share one personal donation page. These pages were created with you in mind. Please let us know if you would like to update your page with a personal appeal, photo or fundraising goal.

Tax Answers

Is my donation tax deductible?

All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Thank you for considering making a gift to PYT. We simply couldn’t do it without you. It’s true! Without the generous support from our friends, PYT could not produce the top-quality performing arts programming you have come to know, expect and love.

Check the questions below and visit the IRS information page to learn more.

I DON'T itemize my tax return. Can I still donate?

The CARES act permits taxpayers to claim a limited deduction on their 2021 federal income tax returns for cash contributions.
These taxpayers, including married individuals filing separate returns, can claim a deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions during 2021. The maximum deduction is $600 for married individuals filing joint returns.

I DO itemize my tax return. Can I still donate?

Taxpayers who itemize can generally claim a deduction for charitable contributions. The deduction is typically limited to 20% to 60% of their adjusted gross income and varies depending on the type of contribution and the type of charity.
The law now allows taxpayers to apply up to 100% of their AGI, for calendar-year 2021.

Can my C Corporation donate?

The law now permits C corporations to apply an increased corporate limit of 25% of taxable income for charitable contributions of cash they make during calendar-year 2021. Normally, the maximum allowable deduction is limited to 10% of a corporation’s taxable income.
