A note for families new to theatre

While PYT is known for guiding families into the theatre world with care, this production follows a more traditional auditioned process designed for experienced performers. If you’re looking for a first step into the PYT community, our fall musicals might be a more welcoming place to start.

The Show

About the Show

✦

Welcome to a household where every day is Halloween and every dinner is a séance. The Addams Family is a comedic musical about love, family, and the terror of growing up — when Wednesday Addams falls for a perfectly normal young man and invites his perfectly normal parents to a perfectly normal dinner. Naturally, chaos ensues.

Phoenix Youth Theatre’s production (School Edition, presented through Theatrical Rights Worldwide) goes up backstage at PYT across two weekends in November, with rehearsals beginning August 2026.

The Family · Roles

✦

The roles that make up The Addams Family. PYT casts on potential, preparation, and the willingness to grow, because casting is the beginning of the work, not the end.

Role №01

Gomez Addams

Patriarch · Romantic · Tenor/Baritone

Devoted husband, doting father, master of charming chaos. Big personality, Spanish-American flair, comic timing essential. Strong singing and movement.

Role №02

Morticia Addams

Matriarch · Mezzo-Soprano

Cool, regal, deeply in love with Gomez. Commanding stage presence, dry wit, a sense of stillness that lets every line land. Tango not required but appreciated.

Role №03

Wednesday Addams

The Daughter · Mezzo (belt)

Eighteen and (gasp) in love. Sharp, deadpan, emotionally explosive when it counts. The story’s engine — strong belt range, real comic instincts.

Role №04

Pugsley Addams

The Son · Treble/Tenor

Younger brother, terrified of being abandoned by Wednesday. Plays younger than 12–14. Cheeky, vulnerable, big-hearted.

Role №05

Uncle Fester

The Narrator · Tenor/Baritone

Bald, beaming, in love with the moon. Our guide through the story. Warmth, mischief, and a willingness to commit to anything.

Role №06

Grandma

The Witchy One · Alto

Sharp-tongued, herbalist, possibly not actually a relative. Character actor role — physicality and timing matter more than range.

Role №07

Lurch

The Butler · Bass (mostly silent)

Enormous, lumbering, secretly the heart of the household. Mostly groans — but his one moment of song is unforgettable. Tall casting preferred.

Role №08

Mal & Alice Beineke

The Outsiders

Lucas’s parents — ‘normal’ Ohio in-laws who get pulled into the madhouse. Mal: stiff and skeptical. Alice: rhyming, repressed, ready to crack open.

Role №09

Lucas Beineke

The Boyfriend · Tenor

Wednesday’s sweet, square fiancé. Earnest, decent, totally out of his depth. Strong duet voice with Wednesday.

Role №10

The Ancestors

The Ensemble · All Voice Parts

A chorus of long-dead Addams relatives — from every era, every culture. The show’s movement and harmony backbone. We cast 8–14.

Monthly payment plan

The production fee is conveniently divided into four manageable monthly payments of $195 each. We pride ourselves on being transparent about costs and ensuring an inclusive experience for all our cast members and their families.

While we encourage everyone to participate in fundraising activities for PYT, we do not impose mandatory sales quotas for show tickets or any other obligations. With us, you can rest assured that the production fee is straightforward, and what you pay is what you pay — no hidden costs.

We do require one more commitment from each family: a parent or guardian must volunteer to contribute their time and support to help ensure the success of the production.

How it works

How Our Audition Journey Works

✦

Here is the path every Headline auditionee takes with us. At PYT, auditioning is about more than landing a part. It is about showing up prepared, accountable, and committed to being part of something bigger than yourself.

  1. 01

    Commitment First

Before diving into the audition process, all auditionees (and their families) complete our Audition Assurance form. This is where you confirm you’re ready for everything that comes next.

  2. 02

    Book Your Audition

Reserve your 10-minute audition slot through our booking system. You’ll answer a few brief questions about your auditionee at this stage.

  3. 03

    Application & Audition Materials

You’ll receive an email with a link to your application form. Once it’s complete, you’ll unlock access to the Audition Materials — your one-stop spot for materials, prep guidance, and everything else you need.

  4. 04

    The Audition

This is your moment to step in and share your preparation. Can’t make any of the audition dates? You’ll be able to submit a video audition instead.

  5. 05

    Callbacks (If Needed)

After initial auditions, some performers may be invited back for a callback. We’ll be in touch directly with the details if you’re needed.

  6. 06

    Rehearsals Begin

If cast, rehearsals start Monday August 24, 2026. All actors are expected to arrive off book for the first rehearsal of each scene.

  7. 07

    The PYT Ride to Showtime

From there, it’s a magical ride all the way to the stage in November 2026.
